Community Brain Injury Services (CBIS) a non-profit organization serving individuals with brain injuries in the Metro Richmond, Tri-Cities, South of Richmond, and Hampton Roads’ Peninsula and Middle Peninsula areas, is currently hiring for a Community Engagement Coordinator for our Richmond Administrative Office.

At Community Brain Injury Services, we serve individuals that have sustained a life altering brain injury. We work with individuals to regain independence, rebuild self-confidence, fully re-engage in their community, and connect to resources needed to live safely and independently through our Clubhouse-model vocational programs, Employment Services, and Case Management programs.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for marketing, outreach, community engagement, and the support of development and fundraising activities of CBIS. The job responsibilities for this position fall in three main areas: Marketing and Outreach, Fundraising and Development, and Volunteer Management.

Marketing and Outreach:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will guide organizational storytelling that highlights mission impact, client outcomes and community value. They will not only fully understand who we serve and what we do, but they will know how to best tell our story to each audience to spread awareness, engage new supporters, reach new referrals, and develop new partnerships.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will prepare and execute an annual marketing and a strategic social media plan in line with strategic goals and to raise the profile of the organization in our communities, and collaborate with the Leadership Team to ensure marketing efforts accurately reflect services, priorities, and community needs. This role will be managing and creating engaging content on our digital platforms, developing, coordinating, and staffing marketing and community outreach activities throughout our service areas, and developing and managing relationships with local media for organizational promotion, initiatives, and public awareness.

Fundraising/Development:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will provide support with the planning and execution of annual fundraising events; manage our donor database- receiving, tracking, and responding to donations; and assist in the development of new fundraising initiatives. This role will also maintain our agency contact list and grow and manage our organization fundraising communications and online profiles through Constant Contact, social media, and print.

Volunteer Management

The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for Volunteer Management for special events, programs, and fundraising activities including recruiting, onboarding, coordinating, communicating with, and engaging new and current volunteers. They will also develop meaningful volunteer opportunities in accordance with our strategic planning goals.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in marketing, outreach, or communications, preferably in the non-profit sector. Strong demonstrated written and verbal communications skills with the ability to tailor content for different audiences. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Must have experience with various software to include databases, particularly DonorPerfect, Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms, and e-marketing. Must have demonstrated experience producing media in Canva and/or Adobe, and utilizing Constant Contact for email marketing. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in non-profit development, marketing, and communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives on working both collaboratively and independently, flexible, organized, detail-oriented, and be capable of managing multiple projects at once. Candidate must possess strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods in fundraising, development, and marketing.

Work Schedule:

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a full-time position. Work schedule will be determined with manager but will generally be between 9a-5p, Monday-Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to accommodate the coordination of fundraising events and opportunities. This is an in office position however travel throughout CBIS service areas will be required for marketing and outreach.

The starting salary for this position is $60,000/annually and includes a robust benefits package.
