What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESL Instructor position at Community Affairs and Resource Center (CARC)?
Position: Instructor (English as second language)
Responsabilities:
- Recruiting ESL students to join the class.
- Participating in student recruitment and follow up.
- Preparing class syllabus each term.
- Assisting in determining useful and affordable textbook/workbooks for students
- Providing instruction for various levels of ESL classes
- Performing student assessments and appropriate placements
- Evaluating education materials
- Creating engaging and interesting curriculum
- Maintaining appropriate records and information
- Recording and reporting students attendance
- Assisting in student use of current technology when possible
- Attending ESL staff meetings as needed
- Attending meetings, conferences, and workshops to further job development
- Ability to demonstrate teaching effectiveness
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to relate to ESL students and diverse population
- Knowledge of subject matter in assigned teaching area
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director
- Assisting with agency fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- NJ ESL certification with the Certificate of Eligibility or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing
- Weekend and evenings may be required
- Must be capable of working with diverse populations.
