- Prepare for in-person class, make sure area is ready for students.
- Teach basic reading, writing, and conversation skills (depending on class level).
- Monitor student attendance and regularly follow-up on absences.
- Prepare classwork, homework, & test for class.
- Give final examination and prepare required documents for end of the year program.
- Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.
- Minimum two years of college education; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience teaching adults.
- Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Attendance and punctuality during program is mandatory.
- Must understand and support The Salvation Army’s mission as a church and a social services organization.
- Patient, compassionate, and understanding demeanor.
- Proficient in computer skills
