We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Community Journalist to join our team as a Reporter. In this position, you will be the voice of the communities you cover, capturing stories that inform, inspire, and engage our readers. Your role will involve producing accurate, compelling content across our print and digital formats while generating fresh insightful story ideas and maintaining the highest level of journalistic integrity. - Research local issues, events, and community stories to identify engaging content
- Conduct interviews with residents, leaders, and organizations to gather firsthand insights
- Write clear, accurate articles adhering to AP style guidelines for consistency and professionalism
- Take high-quality photographs that complement your stories and capture the essence of the community
- Produce short videos or multimedia content to enhance storytelling and social media engagement
- Edit articles for clarity, accuracy, and grammatical correctness before publication
- Post on out social media platforms, sharing stories, engaging with followers, and promoting community events
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives that engage.
- Proficiency in photography and videography to produce compelling visual content
- Experience in video production, editing, and social media management a plus.
- Excellent research skills to verify facts and ensure accuracy in all reporting
- Effective communication skills for conducting interviews, working with the public and collaborating with team members
- Attention to detail in proofreading and copy editing to maintain high journalistic standards
