Responsibilities may vary depending on operational demands but consistently focus on ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and comfort for staff, volunteers, clients, and co-located partner agencies.
Qualifications
- Three years general experience in performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cabinet making, repairs, building maintenance, janitorial or any combination of education, training or experience, which will provide the required knowledge skills and abilities.
- Experienced in towing trailers and other towable devices, and reversing, parking and accurately positioning such items.
- At least 1 year of experience in a lead or supervisory role
- Must have a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance.
- Perform routine and emergency repairs (plumbing, electrical, and structural) to ensure proper and safe operation of Prado HSC and other homeless services sites.
- Schedule and perform all preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
- Schedule, train, and supervise helpers (employees, volunteers, or clients) as needed.
- Repair carpentry, masonry, and painting center equipment and facilities. Perform light carpentry (build fixtures/cabinets, etc.) and paint exterior and interior surfaces.
- Perform year-round groundskeeping, including watering, lawn mowing, weeding, and weekly yard cleaning. Supervise outside landscape contractors.
- Oversee and train clients and/or the Maintenance Team in day-to-day maintenance and janitorial tasks.
- Transport items regularly between sites and pick up and deliver items from donation centers or stores.
- Ensure preventative maintenance and other scheduled maintenance and repair items are completed on time, and forward required documentation to the appropriate person.
- Conduct walk-through inspections of various facilities. Assign and/or complete work as needed to ensure a safe environment for all.
- Review purchase invoices. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used on each job.
