SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and successful execution of grant-funded projects that advance the mission of Communities In Schools of Appalachian Highlands
(CIS-AH). The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with grant requirements by coordinating across teams, partners, and stakeholders, while supporting and monitoring implementation carried out by program staff and supervisors.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PROJECT MANAGER:
Reporting to and directed by the Senior Director of Development, the Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, compliance, and reporting of assigned grant-funded initiatives, while supporting and monitoring implementation carried out by program staff and their supervisors. This
role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PROJECT MANAGER:
Project Planning & Implementation:
- Oversee the execution of grant-funded projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with approved scope and timelines
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables
- Coordinate internal teams and external partners to support timely and effective implementation by program staff and supervisors
Grant Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure all activities align with grant requirements, guidelines, and approved scope
- Track deliverables, outcomes, and performance metrics tied to grant objectives
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to funders
- Maintain organized documentation for all grant-related activities and audits
Data Tracking & Evaluation:
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to project outcomes and impact
- Work with program staff to ensure accurate and consistent data entry and tracking
- Monitor progress toward goals and identify areas for improvement
- Support evaluation efforts and continuous quality improvement
Cross-Team Coordination:
- Serve as the primary liaison between program staff, leadership, and external partners
- Facilitate regular project meetings and provide status updates
- Ensure clear communication across departments involved in project delivery
- Support alignment between project activities and organizational priorities
Budget & Resource Management:
- Monitor project budgets in coordination with finance and leadership
- Track expenditures to ensure alignment with grant budgets
- Identify resource needs and support efficient allocation
Stakeholder & Partner Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, community partners, and funders
- Represent CIS-AH in meetings, presentations, and collaborative efforts
- Support coordination of project-related events, trainings, or initiatives
ADDITIONAL DUTIES ASSIGNED TO ALL EMPLOYEES
Fund Development
- Assist with fund development. Activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in donor cultivation and solicitation activities in support of donor development, including by phone, email or mail
- Support fundraising events by attending, assisting as required and positively representing the organization.
Program Support
- Represent the organization positively in public at all times by acting as a professional representative and ambassador
- Support the mission and goals of the organization across all programs and departments Administration
- Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures, including submitting expense reimbursements, invoices, reports, etc. by the deadlines assigned
- Submit content as requested for use in a variety of media outlets and grant applications
- Participate actively in staff meetings and Board meetings when requested
Professional Development
- Attend CIS-AH meetings and trainings as appropriate
- Find other low-cost opportunities for professional development and training

- Experienced non-profit professional, capable of increasing philanthropic support from corporations, individuals, and private foundations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience. Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
SALARY and BENEFITS
$55,000 annually - commensurate with experience.
