About the job:
Need to find a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical design and engineering initiatives across product development, tooling, and sheet metal manufacturing support. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership to guide a team of engineers and technicians in delivering robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions, especially in precision environments such as sheet metal fabrication and stamping operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems, tools, and fixtures to support manufacturing.
- Oversee time studies, tolerance analyses, and design reviews to ensure manufacturability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality) to resolve technical issues.
- Drive DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), cost reductions, with structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Author technical specifications, engineering documentation, and test protocols.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required:
- BS degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5 years in mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of sheet metal turret / laser systems. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), PDM systems, and simulation tools.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional project teams from concept to production.
- Expertise in GD&T, materials selection, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical system integration.
- Strong analytical mindset and familiarity with SPC, FMEA, and root-cause analysis.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ISO/AS9100 environments and PPAP documentation.
- Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
Salary : $85,000 - $125,000
