Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems (HVAC)
High-End Residential Design | NYC / Tri-State Area
A design-focused MEP and structural engineering firm serving the NYC and Tri-State region is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design of sophisticated building systems for custom luxury residences and unique renovation projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with top-tier architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams on highly customized homes ranging from luxury apartments to large private estates. Projects require thoughtful, efficient, and elegant engineering solutions that meet demanding performance and acoustic standards.
What You’ll Do
• Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for high-end residential projects
• Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and duct/piping design
• Develop engineering drawings, riser diagrams, specifications, and design documentation
• Conduct site surveys and field verification of existing conditions
• Coordinate system designs with architects, contractors, and consultants
• Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure alignment with design intent
• Participate in construction inspections and commissioning activities
Approximately 15–20% field work across project sites.
What We’re Looking For
• 3 years of mechanical engineering design experience
• Experience designing HVAC systems for residential, commercial, or institutional projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
• Experience with HVAC load calculation software (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or similar)
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with design teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Interest in pursuing EIT / PE licensure
Preferred Experience
• Geothermal or advanced energy system design
• NYC or international building code familiarity
• Commissioning experience
• Experience working directly with architects on custom design projects
Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
