Every success story begins with someone who knows how to listen, teach, encourage, and adapt.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is looking for a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist who wants to continue making that kind of difference - while enjoying the flexibility, professional autonomy, and outstanding benefits that come with a career in public service.

Here, your expertise is trusted.

You'll have the opportunity to evaluate each customer's unique needs, develop individualized instructional plans, and use your professional judgment to help people build the skills and confidence they need to live more independently.

Because no two customers are alike, neither are the solutions you'll create.

Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

While you're helping others build independent lives, we'll help take care of yours.

  • Flexible work schedule
  • Part-time remote work available after completing training
  • Comprehensive compensation package valued at more than $101,000
  • Premium health, dental, vision, and prescription benefits
  • Generous paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and parental leave
  • Secure retirement plan options
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities
  • Meaningful work where your expertise is respected and your contributions matter

Put Your Expertise to Work

As a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, you'll provide individualized instruction that helps people who are blind or visually impaired achieve greater independence at home, at work, and in their communities.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate each customer's abilities, goals, and rehabilitation needs.
  • Develop individualized instructional plans using your professional expertise.
  • Teach adaptive techniques and daily living skills that promote confidence and independence.
  • Modify instructional approaches as customers progress toward their goals.
  • Encourage and support customers and their families throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and required case records.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to strengthen services and expand opportunities for customers.

Every day offers the opportunity to celebrate meaningful accomplishments - both large and small - as customers reach goals they once believed were out of reach.

Flexibility That Fits Your Life

  • Full-time employment.
  • Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Work hours are negotiable with a 7.5-hour workday and either a 30-minute or 60-minute lunch period, depending on your schedule.
  • Eligible for an Alternate Work Schedule.
  • Part-time remote work may be available after successfully completing the training period. To work remotely, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location within Pennsylvania. Remote work eligibility is subject to change at any time. Additional details will be discussed during the interview.

Important!

  • You will work face-to-face with your customers. You must live near or be willing to relocate to the Pittsburgh area.

Do You Qualify?

You must meet one of the following:

  • A bachelor's degree, master's degree, or certificate from an approved college or university program in rehabilitation teaching of the blind or visually impaired, vision rehabilitation therapy, teacher of the visually impaired, or education with a concentration in visual impairment that includes a practicum; OR
  • Possession of an active Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) certificate issued by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP).
