Driver License Examiner - Lebanon

THE POSITION

Join the Department of Transportation as a Driver License Examiner and help people take the next step toward safe and responsible driving. This position gives you hands-on experience with testing, customer service, and identity verification. You will work with a wide range of applicants and provide clear guidance throughout the licensing process. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on conducting examinations, verifying identity documents, and assisting customers with licensing procedures to ensure safe and lawful driving. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:

• Applicant Evaluation: Determine driving qualifications and inspect vehicles for required safety features
• Test Administration: Conduct knowledge, vision, pre-trip, skills, and driving tests following established standards
• Document Verification: Review identity records, authenticate documents, and identify possible fraud
• Customer Processing: Issue license products and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and license types
• Record Handling: Enter test results, process applications, and prepare restoration requirement letters
• Policy Compliance: Follow REAL ID rules, fee waiver guidelines, and customer service standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
• Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel as needed
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration ); or
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
  
  

Special Requirements:

• All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
• All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
• All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
