DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on leading inmate workers and supporting daily food service operations within a secure correctional setting. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Preparation: Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, and serve meals according to recipes
- Sanitation Practices: Instruct inmates in safe and sanitary use, cleaning, and storage of tools and equipment
- Operational Oversight: Inspect kitchens, adjust recipes, and monitor food and supply storage following proper standards
- Work Assignment Review: Plan, track, and evaluate inmate work assignments while maintaining care, custody, and control
- Production Training: Provide on-the-job vocational instruction and ensure that meals are prepared and served in a timely manner
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are to be determined by open shifts at the time of hire.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
