THE POSITION

In this role, you will instruct and educate inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy in the electrical trade. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide classroom and on-the-job training and instruction to inmates in the standard practices, methods, and procedures of the electrical trade. This will involve installation, construction, repair, inspection, and maintenance of above and underground electrical systems, building electrical systems, lighting systems, switch boxes and transformers, motors, generators, and electrical appliances. You will conduct classroom training through the delivery of an appropriate curriculum of the trade. As an instructor, you will need to maintain order and discipline of inmates during work assignments and classroom instruction. You can expect to maintain documentation of all inmate training progress, attendance, and assignment details. Additionally, you will oversee and direct inmate work crews in completing electrical work orders as part of the on-the-job training provided.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51, before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
