By joining our District 9 Catlettsburg Section as a Transportation Engineer Supervisor in Boyd County, you’ll have the opportunity to perform the duties and tasks associated with the maintenance and construction of projects in Boyd and Greenup Counties and perform the duties and responsibilities of supervisor of the section.
Summary Of Responsibilities
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in U.S. KYTC will only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained. For additional information refer to: http://kyboels.ky.gov/. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Summary Of Responsibilities
- Supervise the activities of employees of an engineering program as Section Supervisor.
- Review roadway and construction plans, identify and resolve conflicts, prepare construction estimates, manage agreements (contracts) and reimbursements and provide field review and inspection of construction.
- Review and investigate complaints.
- Responsible for the scope, schedule and budget of projects being managed.
- Makes recommendations concerning transportation facilities and related work.
- Roadway and Construction Plan Reading.
- Coordination of construction and maintenance project management.
- Contract administration and facilitation of projects.
- Conflict identification and resolution.
- Strong organizational skills, teamwork, and effective communication.
