The Department of Human Resources Administration’s Training and Employee Development Branch is seeking a Training Development Specialist I who will begin professional level work in providing competency-based training for employees and managers in the Executive and Legislative Branches. This rewarding position is responsible for learning course content and providing feedback to course designers concerning the strengths and weaknesses of courses. This position will play an active role in the delivery of training sessions and the review of eLearning content within the learning management system. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating the scheduling of workshops and serves as back up to the system administrator and learning liaison for the learning management system.
Essential Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in planning, coordinating, or conducting staff development and training courses or experience in teaching or professional experience in providing or administering human services or governmental programs will substitute for the required education on the basis of one year of experience for two years of education. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

- Coordinates scheduling and delivery of assigned workshops, both classroom and virtually.
- Team teaches selected workshops
- Ensures classrooms (both in-person and virtual) are training ready, including preparing accurate training materials and manuals, and ensuring instructors are scheduled and prepared for class.
- Conducts and maintains complex classes in the Learning Management System to support training schedules.
- Analyzes training needs and makes recommendations to leadership.
- Attention to detail and analytical skills are essential.
- Competence in the use of Zoom or similar software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Posses a high level of integrity and personal accountability.
