The Division of Emergency Management is hiring a Planner that serves as project coordinator and personally performs professional research, analysis, and planning work in the development and implementation of comprehensive plans for use at the agency or statewide level.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in planning.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate work in planning or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in research, analysis of data, planning, or a related field will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Travel may be required.

- Serves as the Project Coordinator in conjunction with agency management, FEMA, local officials,and volunteer organizations to develop and maintain a long term disaster recovery plans that restores the state and communities environmentally and economically, with an emphasis on the New Madrid Seismic Zone.
- Perform research, analysis and planning work in the development and implementation on comprehensive recovery plans for the use by the agency and statewide level.
- Evaluate, analyze data, conduct feasibility studies recovery programs, grants and technical assistance available from state and fed programs and volunteer organizations and private sector entities which can be accessed and deployed after disaster events to assist impacted communities with recovery efforts.
- Coordinate with local governments regarding the development of community-specific long term recovery plans which are in concert with the state's long term recovery plan.
- Coordinate with state agencies and external stakeholders to assign roles and responsibilities associated with long term recovery from catastrophic events.
- Maintain the agency's Emergency Management Accreditation support to ensure that recovery planning and agency efforts are in concert with national emergency management standards required for accreditations.
- Supports the State Emergency Operations Center during disaster activations.
- Responsible to monitor the event and coordinate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the dissemination of information to federal, state, and local elected officials.
