Located in the beautiful mountains of Southeastern Kentucky, the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center (EKVC) is a 120-bed long-term care facility dedicated to providing skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to Kentucky’s Veterans. Operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, EKVC exists for one mission: to honor and care for those who bravely served our nation.
We are currently seeking a Patient Aide I who is compassionate, dependable, and committed to enhancing the lives of our Veterans through respectful care and meaningful engagement.

Working Conditions
Normal working conditions within a health care facility. These facilities may include persons with abnormal behaviors and/or contagious diseases. Frequent exposures to blood and body fluids inherent in an institutional setting which requires the following of safety procedures.

- Assisting Veterans with daily activities, mobility, and personal interests
- Supporting nutritional needs including meals, snacks, and documentation of intake
- Encouraging socialization through one-on-one interactions and group activities
- Monitoring Veteran safety and well-being on and off the neighborhood
- Transporting residents using wheelchairs or other mobility devices
- Supporting exercise, recreation, and psychosocial needs
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to infection control protocols
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Dependable with a solid work ethic
- Good judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Organized and able to multi-task in a dynamic care setting
- Compassionate, detail-oriented, and resident-focused
