Description
Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a skilled nursing Facility that cares for the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Veterans. Our mission is to serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Nurse Aide who possesses the desire to care for Kentucky’s Veterans.
Shift is 7am-7pm and 3pm-11:30pm.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/906/001/100.pdf http://www.kbn.ky.gov/ . Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Expectations Include But Are Not Limited To
- Assist residents with personnel hygiene such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair and nail care.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions by escorting to the bathroom, providing bedpan or portable commodes. Check and record intake and output flow charts.
- Assist with meals and nourishment for residents requiring assistance and restorative dining.
- Perform total physical care to include assisting with meals, as well as helping to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of our Veterans.
- Measure and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration, and height as instructed.
- Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
