Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Embrace the need to be a thought leader, both in terms of articulation and action taken to advance the areas within your purview forward.
- Own your space, vertically and horizontally, do not rely on direction, know how to carve out a path to address issues important to the Cabinet.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the energy ecosystem, including utilities, developers, and industry associations
- Coordinate with Commissioner and Secretary to define what areas within the energy sector and emerging industries are a priority and scope out the program of work for CED’s efforts to growth these spaces in the state.
- Coordinate and participate in meetings with companies involved in energy and emerging industry projects
- Track and support engagement with organizations involved in advanced nuclear technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)
- Draft high-quality briefing materials, including letters, presentations, talking points, and reports for Cabinet leadership.
- Provide timely and accurate energy and emerging industry-related data and insights, including project announcements and industry trends.
- Support leadership participation in meetings, conferences, and public-facing engagements related to nuclear and energy development.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the nuclear energy sector, including supply chain dynamics and major national projects.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting nuclear energy at the state and federal levels.
- Track incentives, policies, and competitive positioning of other states pursuing nuclear and advanced energy investments.
- Support implementation of initiatives such as a Kentucky Nuclear Ready Community Designation program.
- Assist in managing relationships with third-party consultants conducting site assessments and feasibility studies related to nuclear and emerging industry sectors.
- Maintain awareness of trends across the broader energy landscape, including solar, battery storage, electric vehicles, hydrogen, and traditional fuels.
- Analyze emerging technologies and assess their potential economic development impact.
- Provide insights into regional and national energy trends to inform recruitment and retention strategies.
- Be prepared to represent the Cabinet in public meetings on areas within your portfolio of accountabilities.
