By joining our Engineering Support Branch as a Highway Traffic Technician Assistant in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to assist qualified staff in the installing or repairing traffic signals or lighting devices while learning to perform work on critical electrical traffic control devices.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Will learn to place temporary traffic control devices and serve as a flagger during maintenance activities.
Assist qualified employees with on-call duties and emergency calls.
Perform visual inspections of electrical devices and lighting.
Repair nonhazardous energized traffic signal items in traffic signal cabinet.

Incumbents in this job title should possess the ability to work, sit, stoop and bend. Should be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Should be able to respond to emergencies.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at various locations throughout the district or at a highway traffic facility. Must be able to work extended hours and during inclement weather, when ecessary.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
