Job Summary and Responsibilities
As ourCardiac Sonographer, you will independently perform comprehensive diagnostic cardiac ultrasound evaluations so our patients can receive accurate assessments and effective treatment for heart disease. Your expertise will directly contribute to healthier futures for those we serve.
Every day, you will conduct high-quality transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) studies to ensure meticulous data collection for precise diagnoses. You will be expected to collaborate closely with cardiologists, adapt techniques for specialized stress echocardiography, and provide crucial after-hours support.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Specialized Stress Echocardiography:Conduct pharmacologic and treadmill stress echocardiograms, adapting techniques to meet diverse patient needs and clinical objectives.
Clinic-Based Support:Regularly perform TTE, stress echocardiogram (SE), and dobutamine stress echocardiogram (DSE) studies at various Virginia Mason satellite clinics, extending our healing presence into the community.
Mentorship and Training:Provide ongoing technical guidance and training for ultrasound studies, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
Cardiologist Collaboration:Assist Cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms, working together to deliver integrated care.
After-Hours Coverage:Participate in after-hours (on-call) coverage, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to patient well-being around the clock.
Quality and Accreditation Focus:Actively participate in ongoing quality assurance initiatives, contribute to lab accreditation efforts by The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL), and engage in special projects as assigned, upholding our standard of excellence.
To be successful in this role, you must possess advanced cardiac sonography skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Graduations from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) accredited ultrasound program.
Training in cardiovascular sonography; extensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and physics required.
Skilled in performing echocardiographic studies in a variety of settings, including at a patient’s bedside.
Ability to assist immobile and/or disabled patients.
Required Licensure and Certifications
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) via ARDMS, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) via CCI. New Graduates require registration within one year of hire.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training
Ability to use reasoning and deduction in making medical judgements (i.e. tailing studies to enhance diagnostic information).
Ability to use sound judgement in the face of emergencies.
Ability to be patient, flexible and maintain a high level of professional behavior.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
