Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Behavioral Health Social Worker, you will participate in patient assessment, counseling, support, and resource linkage. You will provide counseling to patients and families as well as organizing and leading support groups.

Every day, you will work closely with physicians and other medical staff to aid patients in understanding treatment options, facilitating decision-making, as well as providing a variety of other casework services in acute care areas, outpatient, and in the community. Your role demands empathy, strong communication, and collaborative problem-solving to ensure comprehensive support for patients and families navigating mental health challenges.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically contribute to comprehensive patient care by meticulously assessing needs, providing counseling, support, and vital resource linkage for patients and families. You will demonstrate exceptional collaboration with physicians and medical staff, guiding decision-making and delivering essential casework services across acute care, outpatient, and community settings, thereby enhancing patient well-being and understanding of treatment options.

  • Assesses patient's psychosocial history, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and clinical data.
  • Identifies patient needs and current resources (e.g., financial, patient rights, insurance, family support).
  • Provides social casework services as part of an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Functions as a patient advocate by communicating with patient, family, and staff regarding ethical dilemmas and identifying patient needs unmet by current resources and exploring alternate methods to meet patient needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build a trusting relationship with patients and families that will aid in adjustment to illness, loss, and decision making regarding the patients' treatment and care.
  • Provides education to increase patient and family knowledge of illness, health maintenance/treatment options, and use of appropriate level of care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a behavioral health clinician who is passionate about meeting patients where they are and providing meaningful, patient-centered mental health care throughout their hospital journey. This position serves as a therapist within the hospital, supporting patients from the moment a behavioral health need is identified through crisis intervention, treatment, and inpatient care. Clinicians will conduct level-of-care assessments, provide crisis intervention and disposition planning, and follow an inpatient therapy caseload, allowing them to work face-to-face with patients throughout different stages of their behavioral health journey.The role includes facilitating therapeutic groups, providing individual support and interventions, and working closely with providers, nursing, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure each patient’s mental health needs are heard, understood, and addressed. Job Requirements

Required

  • Master's Degree
  • One (1) year of related clinical experience
  • LCSW, LSW, or LPC License
  • Basic Life Support
