To accomplish our mission, CommonHealth is seeking a highly qualified and passionate medical laboratory technician who would be interested in serving on our team. This position is a part-time role with a time commitment of roughly 6 hours per week.
Your Job as a Medical Laboratory Technician:
Description: Proactive team player needed to prepare, label, and process urine toxicology specimens. Will perform and document lab equipment quality control and maintenance; and assist with maintaining, filing, and storing lab records. Ability to evaluate information and recognize discrepancies. Job-specific training provided.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate operation and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments to ensure optimal functionality.
- Execute the pre-analytical and analytical phases of patient testing accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct disinfection procedures on work surfaces at the conclusion of each shift, maintaining a clean and prepared laboratory environment for subsequent shifts.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff, promptly communicating any pertinent activities or concerns to the laboratory supervisor or shift leader.
- Participate in the management of laboratory supplies and equipment, including inventory monitoring, ordering, and organization.
- Manage sample retrieval for pending analyses and necessary re-runs, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Fulfill additional tasks as delegated, maintaining a high level of performance and adherence to laboratory protocols.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and departments, contributing to a cooperative work environment.
- Support the laboratory team by keeping detailed records, troubleshooting issues, contributing to special projects, and ensuring equipment functionality through regular maintenance and prompt repair requests.
- Remain engaged with professional development opportunities, including educational programs and technical publications, to enhance expertise and laboratory operations.
- Uphold the laboratory and organization’s reputation by proactively taking on new challenges and seeking opportunities to contribute to the team’s success.
- Adhere to attendance policies, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling to meet laboratory needs.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and all applicable health and safety standards.
- Execute additional responsibilities as required.

Schedule:

- Thursday's 11:30AM-5:30PM (6-hour shift)
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with computer systems, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with basic scientific principles and laboratory practices.
- Proficient in English with the ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Completion of a two-year accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting weights up to 30lbs.
- Demonstrated hand-eye coordination for accurate specimen identification.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment for several hours during the shift.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
