The Senior Job Captain is competent in all conventional aspects of architectural practice with an emphasis on the technical implementation of the project design. Performs work requiring independent judgment and critical thinking. Adapts standards and criteria to project requirements and possess a diverse working knowledge of related disciplines. The Senior Job Captain is responsible for coordination of the Contract Documents and consultant team and provides support and guidance to other technical staff as needed to successfully deliver contracted work.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in completing Project Manager Checklist and utilizing Project Management Road Map Tools.
- Assist the Project Manager in reviewing current and future workload to determine staff assignments.
- Research, establish, and adhere to requirements and codes enforced by authorities having jurisdiction.
- Maintain continuous flow of critical information internally and externally (to consultants and client.
- Assist in monitoring the performance of the support staff and provide assessment to Project Manager.
- Assist staff in development of industry knowledge and architectural skills. Engage in learning about relevant new codes, technologies, and materials.
- Attend kick-off meetings. Verify site-specific requirements and understand project criteria, design intent, scope of work, and client expectations.
- Continuously review the development of the Contract Documents.
- Responsible for the development of project detailing required to convey design intent.
- Monitor the progress, coordination, and quality of documents. Verify compliance with office standards. Review changes and/or corrections with team members.
- Monitor the development and coordination of consultant documents.
- Obtain supervisory approval on proposed project plans prior to issuance.
- Prepare and submit documents for agency review. Review and coordinate agency comments, make corrections, and resubmit for permit clearance.
- Prepare and issue bid documents. Respond to contractor questions during the bid process. Revise plans and issue addenda if required.
- Prepare and issue contract documents. Respond to RFIs, shop drawings and submittals. Revise plans and issue CCD and ASI as required.
- Implement and adhere to the policies of the company's Employee Manual.

Senior Job Captains will be evaluated based on all of the items in this document as they apply to their specific role. The following items represent the primary performance benchmarks that the company will be measuring and the tools that will be used to provide input.

Accountable to:
Senior Job Captains reports to a Project Manager or a Technical Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program preferred
- 6-8 years of experience in architectural practice with focus on construction documentation and consultant coordination.
- Extensive knowledge of architectural detailing and current construction standards
- Advanced understanding of architectural design and related fields
- Advanced proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and other business software and their application to contract documents
- Extensive knowledge of codes and ability to successfully complete the permitting process with minimal aid and supervision
- Extensive knowledge of construction contract administration processes
- Has the ability to lead communication efforts with client and development team
- Licensure is preferred, but not required
