What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Supportive Housing Advocates position at COMMITTEE ON TEMPORARY SHELTER?
The Family Supportive Housing Advocates serves as a case manager, providing direct, community-based support to families working toward stable housing. This role focuses on case management, housing retention, and connecting families to essential services.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide ongoing case management to families in our supportive housing programs
- Make regular home visits and stay consistently connected with your clients
- Help families navigate housing paperwork and program requirements
- Support financial stability through budgeting and resource planning
- Connect clients to community resources — healthcare, employment, childcare, and more
- Step in to deescalate conflict and respond calmly when a crisis comes up
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid Vermont driver's license
- 4 years relevant professional experience
- Comfort and compassion working with people facing mental health challenges, substance use, or economic hardship
- Strong communication and documentation skills, and the ability to manage your own caseload independently
