Summary
Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems, piping, fixtures, and equipment on construction projects in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards. Performs work to ensure proper operation of water supply, drainage, and gas distribution systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
Has practical knowledge of local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, CSE, Inc. rules and regulations, and site-specific requirements.
- Ensures work is performed in compliance with plumbing codes and safety standards.
Understands hazard communication, PPE requirements, and emergency action procedures.
Planning and Coordination
Reviews blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems.
- Coordinates installation and repair work with supervisors and other trades to meet project schedules.
Organizes tools, materials, and job site activities to maximize efficiency.
Installation and Maintenance
Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe using proper tools and equipment.
- Installs water supply lines, drainage systems, gas piping, and plumbing fixtures.
- Assembles, secures, and tests piping systems for leaks and performance.
Repairs or replaces defective piping, valves, and fixtures as required.
Inspection and Testing
Performs routine inspections of installed plumbing systems to ensure compliance and functionality.
- Conducts pressure and leak tests per specifications and code requirements.
Completes defect reports for deficiencies and reports issues to supervisor.
Maintenance of Equipment and Tools
Ensures tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Performs routine maintenance of plumbing tools, threading machines, and related equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Qualifications

- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited plumbing apprenticeship program preferred. 2–4 years of related plumbing experience in construction required. Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred, depending on state requirements.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete work orders and routine reports.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate material needs, measurements, and pipe angles.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to a variety of situations. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle tools and materials, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance. Vision and hearing requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to construction site conditions including moving mechanical parts, wet and humid environments, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather, elevated heights, and confined spaces.
