Duties
- Coordinate and facilitate wire transactions as needed, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Verify and process ACH files.
- Generate comprehensive reports for various departments and vendors, maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets.
- Reconcile and balance assigned GL accounts and other bank account statements on a daily or weekly basis, as appropriate, promptly identifying and escalating discrepancies for resolution.
- Post entries as required to bank correspondent accounts, including but not limited to FNBB, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, FHLB of Dallas, and Simmons.
- Generate assigned month-end reports for certain users, along with supporting documentation, ensuring financial transparency and accuracy.
- Conduct self-examinations to review internal processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Semi-annually work with the President to test all borrowing lines that have been inactive for the prior six-month period.
- Annually compile and present year-end reports that serve as summary documentation of financial activities and results.
- Support succession planning by assisting the Administrative Assistant with daily functions.
- Assist with Drew Bancshares, Inc. functions, including shareholder inquiries and dividend check distribution.
- Fulfill other related duties as required or assigned to support the bank’s operational and financial goals.Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using various financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and others to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Process journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and month-end closing activities with precision and attention to detail.
- Handle confidential information responsibly while supporting payroll management through systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, or equivalent platforms.
- Conduct data entry tasks involving high-volume spreadsheets and accounting systems to ensure accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
- Support internal controls compliance by assisting with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and audit preparations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, account analysis, and financial concept interpretation to enhance operational efficiency.
Skills
- Extensive experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel for data analysis is essential.
- Strong understanding of GAAP standards along with governmental or non-profit accounting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in technical accounting tasks such as journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger management.
- Excellent numeracy skills coupled with the ability to perform complex Excel data analysis and interpret financial concepts accurately.
- Proven experience in accounts payable/receivable management, bookkeeping, tax preparation support, and non-profit or governmental accounting environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; capable of handling confidential information discreetly.
- Effective communication skills for customer service-oriented interactions within finance teams or external auditors.
