What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel/heavy duty truck Service Advisor position at COMMERCIAL AVENUE TRUCK AND TRAILER PARTS?
The Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact between customers and the diesel repair shop. This position is responsible for scheduling repairs, preparing estimates, communicating repair progress, coordinating with technicians, follow shop manager decisions and ensuring excellent customer service. The Service Advisor plays a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction while supporting efficient shop operations and maximizing vehicle uptime.
Duties
- Greet customers and gather information regarding vehicle concerns.
- Create accurate repair orders and communicate customer concerns to technicians.
- Prepare repair estimates and obtain customer authorization before repairs begin.
- Monitor repair progress and keep customers informed of vehicle status.
- Coordinate with technicians and parts department to ensure timely repairs.
- Schedule service appointments and prioritize work according to shop workload.
- Review completed repairs with customers and explain invoices.
- Promote preventive maintenance services to reduce customer downtime.
- Maintain professional relationships with fleet customers and owner-operators.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and complies with company procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Service Advisor, Service Writer, or in the diesel/heavy-duty truck repair industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty vehicle systems.
- Ability to accurately explain repair recommendations and estimates to customers.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with shop management software
- Ability to prepare repair orders, estimates, invoices, and maintain accurate service records.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of diesel engine manufacturers such as Cummins, Detroit Diesel, paccar , volvo, caterpillar, and International
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs for commercial fleets.
- Experience handling warranty claims and vendor communications.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to walk through the shop and inspect vehicles.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in an office and shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and changing weather conditions.
Pay: $16.90 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
