Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties
- Transport diesel trucks, trailers, equipment, and parts safely to customer locations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate driver logs and required DOT documentation.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload cargo safely.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, or maintenance issues immediately.
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Deliver products on schedule while maintaining professionalism.
- Communicate delivery status with dispatch and management.
- Assist with loading and unloading when necessary.
- Keep assigned vehicle clean and properly maintained.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
- Bend, squat, kneel, push, pull, and reach.
- Secure heavy loads using chains and binders.
- Sit for extended periods while driving.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Working Conditions
- Local and/or regional deliveries.
- Early morning, evening, weekend, and overtime work as needed.
- Exposure to traffic, weather, dust, noise, and diesel fumes.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required depending on routes.
Safety Requirements
- Follow all OSHA, Cal/OSHA (if applicable), DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report all injuries, accidents, and near misses immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings and required training.
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat), and safety standards for transporting dangerous goods.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and navigation accuracy.
- Prior experience in logistics cargo handling, truck loading/unloading, and freight management is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of over-the-road (OTR) driving routes with a focus on safety and efficiency prefer.
