General Purpose
The City Manager's Office (CMO) is on the lookout for enthusiastic and talented individuals to join us as Policy Analysts I or II!
As a Policy Analyst, you'll dive into exciting projects alongside the City Manager's Office, contributing to the City Council Work Plan, budget management, special initiatives, and legislative affairs. You will collaborate with various City departments to provide vital operational and budgetary support, all aligned with our city’s mission and goals. Your insights will help drive decisions that matter most to our community!
Positions in this job series are flexibly staffed and may be filled by advancement from level I or, when filled from the outside, require previous experience.
Policy Analyst I:
Under direction, this is the entry-level position in the job series. Incumbents in this class have related work experience and may be considered to be in a training capacity. The Policy Analyst I is distinguished from the level II by the performance of less than full-range of duties assigned to the level II. Incumbents are expected to have a baseline of knowledge and skills related to the job requirements and ability to fully perform basic functions of the role, while exercising more independence and initiative as processes and procedures of assigned area of responsibility are learned.
Policy Analyst II:
Under general direction, this is the journey-level position in the job series and is distinguished from level I by the ability to perform the full-range of duties including more complex analysis and project coordination with only occasional instruction or assistance as needed. Incumbents in this level must be able to work with independence and initiative, act in a leadership capacity on certain projects that include development project case management, financial and contractual analysis, and may serve in an advisement capacity to the City Manager’s Office.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Policy Analyst I:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field; Must have good communication skills, critical thinking, attention to detail and high energy and passion for local government. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Policy Analyst II:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field; minimum of three years of previous experience in municipal policy or budget required. Must have good communication skills, critical thinking, attention to detail, high energy, and passion for local government. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
