Reviews clients’ needs and assesses the appropriate next steps. May serve as a liaison or assist with scheduling appointments, completing paperwork, securing referrals or establishing a primary health care provider for the client.

One year or more experience in clinical social work, co-responder experience, victim advocacy, or therapy, including experience working with moderate to severe and persistently mentally ill and at-risk populations, community networking and resource delivery. Experience working and collaboration with law enforcement and/or criminal justice officials. Previous shift work experience preferred. Case management experience to support more than one co-responder.
Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the initial probationary period. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must successfully complete the initial probationary period and training.

- Respond to the patient’s immediate needs which may include de-escalating and crisis intervening; intervention may occur over the phone or in person.
- Assess risk for suicidal and homicidal ideation.
- Assist Co-Responder with case management, care coordination, and reporting to the police department.
- Identify risk factors and work constructively with associated individuals to reach agreed upon outcomes and coordinate care as needed.
- Maintain positive interactions by responding timely to phone calls, email and other requests.
- Participate in oversight of data outcomes.
- Attend training as needed.
- Document in accordance with regulatory requirements and clinical guidelines.

- Criteria and procedures for emergency mental health holds within the State of Colorado.
- HIPAA regulations as it applies to mental health information and record collection, retention, and release within crisis situations and follow-up.
- Understanding and professionally responding to customer needs.
- Operation of computers and applicable software, printers, copiers, and telephone.
- Handling sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills used to explain care plan to the client, their family and friends as well as to the professionals associated with the client’s case.
- Show compassion and relate to culturally diverse clients and their varying needs.
- Maintain regular punctual attendance.
- Speak motivationally and encouragingly to clients to follow their care plans.
- Listen well and communicates clearly, verbally and in writing with various audiences and through various channels.

- Other Equipment: Occasional use of ladders.
- Physical Activities: Moderate physical activity that may include walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting & carrying
- Lifting: Frequently lifts, carries, and exerts?up to 40 pounds
- Vision and Hearing: Must have visual acuity to see and read paper and electronic documents. Must be able to answer telephones, communicate conversation and respond to verbal inquires. Must be able to recognize sound on construction sites that indicate nearby equipment and/or safety hazards
- Exposure to Environmental Conditions: Will be exposed to extreme heat, cold, dry, wet, odors, smoke, loud noises, vibrations, dust or intense lightand hazards normally associated with construction sites. May be exposed to chemicals including cleaners, solvents, paints and other potentially toxic agents. Work may be performed in precarious or tight spaces.
- Schedule: Must be available for on-call work schedule assignments that require working nights, weekends and holidays.
- Additional Working Conditions: May be exposed to work settings that vary in convenience and comfort. May be required to visit external, non-city work sites with the City having limited control over the work environment.
