Role Description

The Director of Quality & Safety is responsible for administering and overseeing all quality assurance, quality control and environmental health and safety activities related to aircraft completions, maintenance, and modification operations in accordance with 14 CFR Part 145 repair station requirements and the AS9100 Quality Management System applicable to fabrication and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects.


This role serves as the primary liaison with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and maintains final authority on the methods and procedures used by the repair station to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, manufacturer specifications, and approved technical data. The position ensures that all facility operations and personnel comply with corporate policies as well as federal, state, and industry regulatory requirements.


Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and managing safety initiatives and programs designed to prevent workplace injuries, strengthen the organization’s safety culture, and improve operational processes to create a safe and compliant working environment.


Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of records in accordance with FAR 145.219 through internal system audits and compliance reviews.
  • Develop, measure, and evaluate the effectiveness of corporate quality policies and procedures, recommending improvements that increase operational efficiency while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain current records of applicable aviation regulations, specifications, type certificate data sheets, and airworthiness directives relevant to repair station operations.
  • Ensure that all technical data used for articles maintained or altered by the repair station are properly controlled and maintained with the latest revisions. This includes repair station process specifications, manufacturer maintenance manuals, service bulletins, part specifications, FAA airworthiness directives, and other approved technical data.
  • Maintain and oversee the AS9100 Quality Management System, including audits and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain certification.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory and industry best practices for Part 145 repair stations.
  • Coordinate with the FAA Certificate Holding District Office (CHDO) and other FAA offices regarding Quality Assurance matters and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify operational hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies based on audit results, incident reports, and safety analyses.
  • Revise and maintain repair station documentation including the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), Capabilities List, and Personnel Roster as required.



  • Ensure that preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspections are properly conducted and documented in accordance with the RSM and QCM.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret accidents, incidents, and exposure data to develop corrective actions that eliminate or reduce operational risks.
  • Maintain a technical publications library relevant to repair station operations and ensure accessibility of current technical information to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain company maintenance policies, inspection procedures, and overhaul guidance required by FAA regulations to support maintenance and repair operations.
  • Establish long-term safety performance targets, accident prevention strategies, and cost-control initiatives related to safety management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MBA or master’s degree in quality management is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in, aircraft maintenance, or aircraft completions, including leadership experience in quality assurance, inspections, repairs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Part 145 repair station operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Advanced understanding of the FAA and EASA mandated Safety Management System
  • Demonstrated experience governing technical data and documentation across engineering and production environments.
  • Experience implementing enterprise-wide quality and compliance programs across manufacturing or aviation maintenance operations.
  • Certification in risk management, safety management, or occupational health and safety is preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and aviation maintenance management systems such as Corridor, CMP, , CAMP, or similar platforms.


Work Environment

This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Loud noise levels
  • Use of heavy machinery and specialized tools
  • Potential contact with chemicals or hazardous materials
  • Working in confined aircraft interior spaces
