Job Summary
Comfort Temp Company is seeking a hands-on, high-accountability Accounting Manager to lead the daily accounting function and help ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial operations. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting workflows, supporting monthly close, reviewing reconciliations and schedules, managing team performance, and partnering with leadership to improve visibility and discipline across the organization.
The Accounting Manager will directly oversee the AP/AR Cash Manager, Sourcing Specialist, and Staff Accountant, and will have indirect oversight of the Accounts Payable Specialist and Accounts Receivable Specialist through the AP/AR Cash Manager. This role is expected to provide leadership, structure, follow-through, and support across core accounting operations while helping build scalable systems for a growing company.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with accounting leadership experience in the trades, construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or other project-based service industries.

- Lead daily accounting operations and help ensure accurate, timely, and organized financial processes across the business
- Manage and develop the AP/AR Cash Manager, Sourcing Specialist, and Staff Accountant
- Provide leadership, accountability, and support to the AP and AR functions through indirect oversight of the AP Specialist and AR Specialist
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting workpapers for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with preparation of internal financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis
- Help maintain general ledger integrity across entities, departments, and locations
- Oversee balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany activity
- Support cash visibility, receivables tracking, payables discipline, and transaction-level accuracy
- Partner with the AP/AR Cash Manager to improve workflow, collections support, disbursement processes, and cash management controls
- Work with the Sourcing Specialist and operations leaders as needed to improve purchasing discipline, vendor setup quality, cost visibility, and process consistency
- Support project-based accounting needs including job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, progress billing support, lien waiver tracking, and other construction-related accounting activities where applicable
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as assigned
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, internal controls, and workflow discipline
- Coordinate support for audits, tax requests, 1099 preparation, and compliance-related reporting
- Partner with leadership across accounting, operations, and administration to improve financial visibility and decision-making
- Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement scalable accounting procedures
- Ensure team members understand expectations, deadlines, and quality standards
- Perform other accounting and finance leadership duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience preferred
- 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong preference for candidates with construction, trades, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical contracting, field service, or project-based accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, close processes, and financial reporting
- Experience reviewing the work of others and managing accounting workflow
- Strong understanding of internal controls, process discipline, and accounting accuracy
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort with accounting systems and reporting tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical ability, organization, follow-up, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, retainage, lien waivers, progress billing, and construction accounting workflows strongly preferred
- Experience with Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, ServiceTitan, or similar systems preferred
- CPA or CPA-track background is preferred but not required
- Hands-on leader who can both manage and execute

Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
