Overview
The Comfort Inn & Suites Greenville near East Carolina University is seeking a reliable Maintenance Engineer/Handy man to perform tasks such as small repairs, preventative measures, and cleaning that helps to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel. You will be responsible for applying basic fixes to in-room plumbing, lighting fixtures, cleaning and maintain HVAC units, and small appliances as well as ensure the property is tidy and functional. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, able to troubleshoot, and possess manual dexterity and physical stamina. Required to apply in person - 3212 S Memorial Dr. Greenville, NC.
Responsibilities
- Perform exterior upkeep such as blowing the parking lot, sweeping walkways and stairs, cleaning the pool area, and emptying trash cans.
- Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps in walls, replacing light bulbs, etc.
- Create and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all rooms.
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.)
- Collaborate with Housekeeping Management daily to ensure any room issues are fixed promptly.
- Clean and maintain all areas of the office and other assigned areas.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for employees and customers.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, painting, and minor repairs.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors.
- Clean windows, walls, and furniture.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Perform outdoor work such as shoveling snow or pressure washing
Experience
- Proven experience in facilities or hotel maintenance with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of schematics, electrical wiring, PLCs, Ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools essential for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Demonstrated welding skills along with residential painting experience preferred.
- Supervising or leadership experience in maintenance teams or projects is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CMMS software for work order management and record keeping.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English across diverse teams.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience in manufacturing or residential facilities maintenance is advantageous
