Job Overview

Duties
- Assist residents or patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any concerns promptly
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities through tailored care strategies
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences; assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain cleanliness of living or care areas by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry
- Operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to prevent injury during transfers
- Document care activities meticulously in compliance with healthcare standards and care plans
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive patient support
- Uphold privacy standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations at all times during patient interactions
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, home health care, or group homes is highly preferred
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those experiencing memory loss or dementia
- Knowledge of medication administration and vital signs monitoring
- Experience with specialized care such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required; familiarity with assistive devices like Hoyer lifts is beneficial
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends or overnight shifts as needed
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for home visits or community-based care roles
