Comer & Cross Concrete Coatings is looking for a hands-on Fleet Manager to keep our trucks, trailers, and coating equipment running strong and job-site ready. Our crews depend on reliable transportation, prep gear, and application equipment every day—this role owns the uptime, safety, and cost-effectiveness of everything on wheels or with an engine across our fleet.
About the Role
As Fleet Manager, you'll oversee maintenance and repair of service trucks, trailers, sprayers, generators, grinders, and other equipment used to prep, coat, and finish concrete surfaces on residential and commercial job sites. You'll be the go-to person making sure crews roll out on time, equipment doesn't fail mid-project, and every vehicle and machine stays compliant, safe, and well cared for.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for service trucks, box trucks, trailers, and towed equipment used across coating crews.
- Oversee upkeep and repair of coating application equipment, including sprayers, shot blasters, grinders, vacuums, mixers, and generators.
- Coordinate repairs with in-house technicians and trusted outside vendors/mechanics to minimize job site downtime.
- Track vehicle registrations, inspections, insurance, and DOT compliance for all fleet vehicles and trailers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service histories, and equipment condition records for every unit.
- Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and equipment hours to catch issues before they cause breakdowns.
- Manage relationships with parts suppliers, service shops, and equipment dealers to control costs and turnaround time.
- Build and manage the fleet maintenance budget and make informed repair-versus-replace recommendations.
- Conduct or schedule routine safety inspections on vehicles, trailers, and coating equipment.
- Coordinate fleet and equipment scheduling across job sites to keep crews moving without delays.
- Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and equipment accessories needed for day-to-day operations.
- Train drivers and crew leads on proper equipment care, pre-use inspections, and issue reporting.
- Respond to breakdowns in the field and coordinate emergency repairs or swap-in equipment to keep crews on schedule.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in fleet, maintenance, or equipment management; construction, coatings, or trades industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of light and medium-duty trucks, trailers, and industrial/construction equipment.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and vehicle compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort maintaining detailed maintenance records.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate service costs.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fleet management software.
- Background in concrete coatings, flooring, or general construction.
- Experience maintaining spray, blasting, or surface-prep equipment.
