Role Summary
As an Instructional Aide, you work in close partnership with classroom teachers to achieve critical learning objectives. Your primary mission is to reinforce core concepts by working with individual students or small groups, helping them master skills and stay on task. From guiding independent study to assisting with classroom management and daily routines, you are the versatile professional who ensures the classroom engine runs smoothly and every child feels seen and supported.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
- Educationally Prepared: Must have successfully completed at least sixty (60) college credit hours.
- Certified Professional: Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate.
- Student-Centered Experience: You have a proven track record of working with students and understand how to set limits and provide supportive structure.
- The "Team" Player: You have the ability to work independently when given a task but thrive as a cohesive member of an instructional team.
- Instructional Savvy: You possess knowledge of best practices, student interventions, and classroom management strategies.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Reinforce Learning: Lead small group discussions, role-playing, and activities to present subject matter and reinforce concepts initially introduced by the teacher.
- Diagnostic Support: Assist the teacher in administering and scoring achievement or diagnostic tests to help track student growth.
- Classroom Management: Assist in supervising students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
- Individualized Strategy: Partner with the teacher to devise special strategies for reinforcing material based on a sympathetic understanding of each student's unique needs and interests.
- Operational Excellence: Manage the daily "details" that matter—from checking notebooks and recording attendance to keeping learning displays up-to-date and assisting with technology.
- The "Go-To" Resource: Serve as the primary source of information and support for substitute teachers, ensuring instructional continuity for our scholars.
