Position Summary
The Director of IT is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and execution of the company’s technology infrastructure and operations. This role ensures alignment of IT initiatives with business goals, oversees departmental leadership across infrastructure, networking, and support, and drives innovation to enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute the IT roadmap aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives such as infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, and digital transformation.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify and implement technology solutions that support business growth.
  • Investigate and document emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve system stability and reliability.
  • Assist with preparation and presentation of the annual technology budget.
  • Introduce governance models for IT risk management and cybersecurity posture improvement.
Team Management & Development
  • Direct and mentor IT managers across Infrastructure, Networking, Inmate Telephone Systems, and Business Intelligence.
  • Establish and enforce policies, standards, and guidelines for IT operations and security.
  • Direct teams responsible for day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to KPIs for system security, network availability, and incident response times.
  • Oversee large-scale projects, including security upgrades and compliance audits.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure including servers, storage, network, and telecommunication components.
  • Oversee planning and execution of IT projects, including deployments, upgrades, and system integrations.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of IT systems and services.
  • Manage vendor relationships and technology procurement.
  • Review and maintain service level agreements.
  • Implement robust change management and configuration control processes to reduce operational risk.
Security & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise cybersecurity program aligned with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead efforts for data security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery.
  • Oversee regular security audits, penetration testing, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy laws and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS if applicable).
  • Respond to and manage production issues and incidents with urgency and transparency.
  • Champion security awareness training across the organization.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Serve as liaison between IT and other departments to ensure technology meets business needs.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on IT initiatives, risks, compliance status, and performance metrics.
  • Report cybersecurity posture and risk metrics to executive leadership and board committees.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 8 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including managing cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in infrastructure planning, project management, and enterprise systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Data Centers, Virtualization (Hyper-V), Telephony, Microsoft Server, SQL, and Office 365.
  • Proven experience implementing NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and other security frameworks.
  • Experience in high-availability, compliance-driven environments where priorities can change to meet the demands of the business.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel between offices as needed.
