Financial Accounting Staff Accountant - Oil & Gas Industry

Position Overview: This Financial Accounting Staff Accountant position offers exceptional exposure to diverse business operations within a dynamic, flat organizational structure. Working collaboratively across Accounting, Land, Engineering, and Senior Management teams, this role provides outstanding opportunities to develop critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and advanced accounting skills while supporting key financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support critical financial accounting processes, including asset retirement obligations, lease accounting, and trust reporting by assisting with monthly journal entries, updating calculations, gathering data inputs, and preparing audit schedules
• Prepare and review financial accounting entries, such as prepaids, depreciation and depletion, accruals, and reclassifications
• Stay current on new accounting standards and business changes, implementing guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team members on process improvements and system enhancements
• Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2-4 years of accounting experience (oil and gas experience preferred but not required)
• Advanced Excel skills including proficiency with VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, pivot tables, SUMIF functions, advanced formatting, filtering, and INDEX MATCH formulas
• Ability to learn industry-specific accounting systems quickly
• Demonstrated work ethic, initiative, and strong communication skills
• Self-motivated with eagerness to learn and grow professionally
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
