Columbus School for Girls seeks energetic and dedicated Substitute Nurses to support our school community under the direction of the Head School RN. The Substitute Nurses will work under their own active Ohio Board of Nursing license while adhering to the clinic’s established guidelines, which will be provided during a shadowing and training session.
Major Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of student health and student medical records.
- Serves as a health care expert, medical resource, and health care advocate for students and staff.
- Provides individualized, professional nursing services to students and staff while demonstrating cultural competence and a recognition of the diversity in culture and beliefs.
- Ensures quality of patient care in routine clinic visits and in emergency situations through utilization of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) and makes medical referrals when necessary.
- Coordinates care between home, family, and school and as necessary documents and reports student needs across disciplines (i.e. counselors, learning specialists, etc.) to the Head Nurse or Assistant Head of School.
- Is aware of and follows state and local health recommendations, mandates and administrative guidelines including a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Experience, Characteristics, Qualities:
- Current licensure in Ohio as an RN
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- CPR Certification
- Strong candidates will have at least five years of experience in nursing, preferably in a pediatric and/or school setting
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrate team work, initiative, judgment and the ability to problem solve
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
