Hiring for a PRN (as needed) Switchboard Operator
**will not have set number of guaranteed hours**
JOB SUMMARY: Serves as central telephone communications source for the hospital. Also, monitors various alarm systems.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Ability to read and write and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to speak and understand fluent English.
- Must have clear and pleasant speaking voice with excellent telephone etiquette.
- Public relations skills, manual dexterity and a good memory for numbers, protocols, and emergency procedures.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: No previous experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within one month.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answers the telephone as quickly as possible and effectively facilitates/transmits incoming and outgoing calls, using a clear and pleasant manner, appropriate communication skills, and following established procedures and HIPAA guidelines
- Locates individuals or transmit messages through pages, dial paging, direct calling, radio and intercom announcements
- Responds to alarms and emergency situations quickly and in accordance with established procedure, without the need to research procedures or ask for assistance.
