Position Summary

The EHS Coordinator / Production Trainer supports a safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment by assisting with environmental, health, and safety programs while also training production employees on standard work, safe work practices, 6’s, and operating procedures. This role is ideal for a hands-on, organized, and people-focused individual who enjoys working on the production floor, coaching employees, maintaining records, and helping drive a culture of safety, consistency, and continuous improvement.

To help ensure your success, CHC will enroll you in OSHA 30 and Train the Trainer classes. You will also be enrolled in Six Sigma Green Belt and 6’s certifications.

Key Responsibilities

EHS

· Support day-to-day EHS activities by helping implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.

· Conduct routine safety Gemba walks, inspections, and area audits to identify hazards and track corrective actions.

· Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations, including documentation and follow-up.

· Lead the Safety Committee team and ensure action items are addressed

· Maintain EHS records such as training logs, inspection forms, corrective action trackers, Safety Data Sheets, and OSHA-related documentation as applicable.

· Help coordinate required employee safety training, including new hire orientation, refresher training, PPE use, hazard communication, lockout/tagout awareness, emergency response, and other site-specific programs.

Training and CI

· Deliver hands-on production training for new and existing employees on work instructions, standard operating procedures, quality checks, safe equipment use, and best practices.

· Evaluate trainee understanding through observation, skill verification, and follow-up coaching to ensure employees can perform tasks safely and correctly.

· Partner with production supervisors, team leads, quality, maintenance, and HR to identify training needs and close skill gaps.

· Update and maintain training materials, job aids, work instructions, and training matrices to reflect current processes and requirements.

· Monitor training effectiveness and employee progress, keeping accurate qualification and cross-training records.

· Promote safe behaviors and a positive safety culture through daily floor presence, coaching, communication, and employee engagement.

· Assist with emergency preparedness activities, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, training, and operational consistency.

· Support environmental compliance activities assigned, including waste compliance, spill response readiness, and documentation.

· Perform other related duties assigned to support plant operations, compliance, and workforce development.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in safety, environmental science, manufacturing, industrial technology, education, or a related field preferred.

· 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, safety, training, operations, or a related environment; internships or co-op experience are a plus.

· Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and a willingness to learn OSHA and environmental requirements.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, coach, and work effectively with employees at all levels.

· Comfort working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and spending significant time on the production floor.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and training documentation.

· Ability to read, understand, and explain procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements clearly.

· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to use training or recordkeeping systems.

· Ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and maintain confidentiality when appropriate.

· Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support multiple shifts, training schedules, or operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience training or coaching others in a production, warehouse, or industrial setting.

· Exposure to EHS compliance programs, audits, inspections, or incident reporting.

· Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, standardized work, or continuous improvement principles.

· Knowledge of bilingual training methods or ability to train in both English and Spanish, if applicable to the workforce.

· First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

· OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or other entry-level safety training certifications are a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position works in both office and manufacturing floor environments and requires regular walking, standing, observing operations, and interacting with employees throughout the facility. The role may involve exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature changes, and other typical industrial conditions. The employee must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and perform the physical activities needed to support training, inspections, and floor-based coaching.

· Timely completion and documentation of employee safety and production training.

· Visible engagement on the production floor and positive working relationships with employees and supervisors.

· Accurate and organized maintenance of EHS and training records.

· Prompt follow-up on hazards, incidents, corrective actions, and employee skill gaps.

· Consistent support of a safe, compliant, and well-trained workforce.
