Overview
The PR intern will assist the Communications staff with daily media monitoring and clipping; compiling media reports; writing press releases and media advisories; supporting player and alumni appearances; game-night responsibilities and other projects as assigned.

The PR intern will assist the Communications staff with daily media monitoring and clipping; compiling media reports; writing press releases and media advisories; supporting player and alumni appearances; game-night responsibilities and other projects as assigned.
Duties And Tasks
- Using a media monitoring platform, monitor media mentions, clip TV and radio mentions, and create reports and newsletters for distribution.
- Assist with writing press materials including releases, advisories, talking points, etc.
- Maintain and update the media contact database.
- Support the execution of PR events, player interviews, community relations efforts, studio visits and press conferences.
- Assist with the design and editing of the monthly Off Ice Report.
- Help compile and distribute team stats.
- Help manage game-day credential process and press box preparation.
- Game night duties involve staffing press areas and assisting in press box operations, including distribution of game reports before, during and after games.
- Learn public relations and communications practices and processes employed by an NHL Communications department during a season.
- Improve writing and editing skills for press releases and media materials.
- Learn best practices for media pitching and story execution.
- Gain hands-on experience with game-day media operations.
- Develop skills in media monitoring and research.
- 15-20 intern hours available each week
- Internship timeline – September – End of the Season
- Must be enrolled in a four-year college or university or completing master’s degree, Junior or Senior preferred, journalism, communications, or public relations major encouraged.
- Must receive internship credit for internship
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays during the NHL season.
- Strong writing and editorial skills.
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
