Duties
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and clients to gather accurate pricing information and negotiate favorable terms.
- Develop detailed bid proposals that include labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor quotes, and overhead costs.
- Conduct site visits to assess construction conditions, verify quantities, and gather on-site data to refine estimates.
- Monitor project budgets during execution to ensure cost control and identify potential overruns early.
- Review contracts and scope of work documents to ensure all aspects of the project are accurately estimated and accounted for.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and resource planning to support efficient construction management.
Skills
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for plan markup and document management.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
- Experience with estimating software for construction cost analysis.
- Deep understanding of construction estimating principles, including cost control, pricing strategies, and bid preparation.
- Construction site experience that provides insight into on-the-ground realities affecting estimates.
