Duties
- Deliver engaging classroom and clinical instruction in phlebotomy techniques, CCMA procedures, and related medical terminology.
- Develop, review, and update curriculum materials to align with current industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Supervise students during practical training in laboratory, clinical, and simulated environments to ensure safe and effective skill acquisition.
- Evaluate student performance through assessments, practical exams, and documentation review to monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Incorporate learning technology platforms such as LMS (Learning Management Systems), Schoology and other online instruction tools to enhance educational delivery.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development projects focused on clinical research, medical research articles, and innovative teaching methods.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance metrics, and clinical training hours in compliance with institutional policies.
- Support students from diverse cultural backgrounds by fostering an inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and learning.
- Stay current with advancements in medical research areas including oncology, anesthesiology, psychiatry, radiology, pathology, pediatrics, neurology, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology (Ob/Gyn), and critical care to ensure content relevance.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and accreditation processes to uphold high standards of higher education teaching.Experience
- Proven experience as a phlebotomist or CCMA with extensive hands-on clinical training experience in hospital or clinic settings.
- Supervising or teaching experience in healthcare education programs or higher education institutions is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology across various specialties such as oncology, radiology, pathology, pediatrics, neurology, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology (Ob/Gyn), critical care nursing, veterinary terminology (if applicable), and anatomy knowledge.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) like Blackboard or similar platforms for online instruction delivery.
- Experience conducting clinical research or participating in clinical trials; ability to incorporate research findings into curriculum development is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds while maintaining a supportive learning environment.
- Prior involvement in curriculum development, documentation review processes, securing research funding or grants related to medical research is advantageous.
- College faculty experience with a focus on adult education principles; background in publishing peer-reviewed papers or medical research articles is beneficial.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, diagnostic radiology practices, pathology workflows, hospital procedures including acute care settings are valuable assets for this role.
