This role is best viewed as a paid apprenticeship in direct response writing.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Copywriter who wants to learn the craft of direct response fundraising from the ground up. This is an ideal role for a strong young writer—whether you’re a recent graduate or early in your career—who wants to develop real, marketable writing skills rather than write academic or corporate copy.

You will be trained directly in:

• How professional fundraisers motivate donors
• How to structure fundraising letters
• How to write with clarity, urgency, and emotional force
• How to improve rapidly through direct, detailed editorial feedback

If you’re serious about becoming an excellent writer—and are willing to be coached—this role can be a launching pad.

Responsibilities

• Write fundraising letters that connect emotionally with donors and motivate action
• Revise copy based on detailed editorial feedback
• Proofread your work (and others’) with extreme attention to detail
• Manage assignments independently and meet real production deadlines

What We’re Looking For

• Strong writing ability (a writing test is required before an offer is made)
• Coachability and a willingness to apply direct, critical feedback
• Ability to work independently and hit deadlines
• Comfort writing in support of conservative ideas and causes
• Full-time availability onsite in Winchester, VA

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Writing ability matters more than credentials.

Location & Relocation

This is an in-person position based in Winchester, Virginia. Winchester offers a low cost of living, a historic downtown, and convenient access to Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.
