Our laboratory conducts translational research on mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance and the role of the microbiome in health and disease. We are seeking a Technician B to provide general research support for:
Responsibilities include performing standard research procedures and microbiological and molecular biology techniques under supervision, including DNA/RNA isolation, RT-PCR, library preparation, and whole-genome sequencing. Prior research experience and an interest in microbiology and/or infectious diseases are preferred.

Position Summary

- A study on the impact of antibiotic prophylaxis on the emergence of drug resistance
- Studies on colonization with multidrug-resistant bacteria in solid organ transplant patients
- Projects within the Microbiome Core
Responsibilities include performing standard research procedures and microbiological and molecular biology techniques under supervision, including DNA/RNA isolation, RT-PCR, library preparation, and whole-genome sequencing. Prior research experience and an interest in microbiology and/or infectious diseases are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain laboratory equipment
- Comply with laboratory safety regulations
- Perform quality control procedures
- Perform other related duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory and its research projects
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience in microbiology and/or microbiome research
- The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
- Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program
- Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
- Work with known infectious agents or biological toxins where prophylactic vaccination is available, including SARS-CoV-2
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
