Job Summary
Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with speech language disorders, using a variety of assessment tools and techniques to identify needs and goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess student functional status to identify needs for speech language therapy.
- Select and administer specialized hearing and speech tests, interpreting results to inform treatment planning.
- Gather background information on students' educational, medical, social, and psychological history to assist in determining possible causes of speech disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for students receiving speech language therapy services.
- Provide consultation to teachers and staff members to ensure integration of speech language development techniques into the classroom routine.
- Monitor student progress, reevaluating IEP objectives and adjusting delivery of speech language services as necessary.
Requirements
- Master's degree in speech language pathology and licensure as a speech language pathologist in Montana.
- Experience providing speech language therapy in a school-based setting.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
