We are seeking an experienced and motivated BIM Manager to lead our Building Information Modeling efforts and support the firm’s structural engineering operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape and maintain CEI’s BIM standards, streamline workflows, and serve as the firm’s in-house Revit expert.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting
- Create and edit structural drawings and BIM models under the supervision of project engineers.
- Develop detailed plans, elevations, sections, and connection details in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Incorporate redlines, markups, and design revisions efficiently and accurately.
Coordination & Client Interface
- Collaborate closely with Revit users and project teams to ensure consistent application of BIM standards.
- Attend BIM kickoff meetings when requested by clients.
- Review and coordinate client BIM policies and standards to ensure compliance.
Process Improvement & Development
- Develop and refine best practices for BIM production and project delivery.
- Improve and expand Revit families to enhance office efficiency.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of projects to ensure conformance with company standards.
- Receive and prioritize requests from users for templates, tools, or workflow improvements.
Autodesk Licensing & Software Management
- Manage Autodesk licensing across the firm, including renewals, user access, and compliance.
- Assess office software and hardware needs, research pricing, and present options to leadership.
- Assist with software installations and configurations.
- Serve as the primary contact for updates and licensing issues, addressing them promptly to minimize workflow interruptions.
Templates, Standards & Libraries
- Develop, maintain, and improve Revit templates, family libraries, and drafting standards.
- Standardize line weights, text styles, dimension styles, and tags to ensure consistency.
- Maintain and update general notes, typical details, and template library.
- Communicate updates to staff, clearly explaining changes and their purpose.
- Create and maintain an office BIM standards guide or policy document for easy reference and onboarding.
Training & Support
- Act as the firm’s Revit expert, answering questions and providing day-to-day support.
- Train and mentor new employees on BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
- Promote continuous learning through internal training sessions, seminars, and participation in local Revit user groups.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
- 4 years of hands-on Revit experience within a structural or AEC environment.
- Strong knowledge of Autodesk products, including Revit and AutoCAD.
- Proven ability to develop, maintain, and enforce BIM standards and templates.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond quickly to technical issues.
- Familiarity with structural engineering workflows preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Dynamo, Bluebeam, or BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Knowledge of scripting or automation tools to enhance BIM efficiency.
- Experience in a training or leadership role.
