What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant I position at Columbia Distributing?
The Staff Accountant I position is responsible for performing general bookkeeping, maintaining financial reports, and analyzing account activity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries.
- Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset system for all additions and disposals on a monthly basis; calculate, prepare, and post monthly depreciation entries.
- Prepare monthly cash reconciliations timely and accurately. Maintain daily cash tracking worksheets for the deposit and general accounts; review/follow up on bank corrections and NSF checks.
- Manage market fund accounts including coordinating set-up and providing backup when requested.
- Provide support for Tax Staff Accountant.
- Act as backup for other staff accountant responsibilities.
- Provide budget support as needed.
- Prepare all required property tax reports and ensure timely and accurate filing.
- Support external auditor and tax requests by providing schedules and analysis as needed.
- Prepare other ad hoc assignments/reports that arise during the normal course of business.
- Document all procedures/processes required to accomplish assigned tasks and maintain documentation as procedures/processes change.
- Develop and maintain positive, cooperative and team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and others you come into contact with through your job.

Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of 1 year general bookkeeping, accounting, or finance experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and 10 key by touch at minimum of 10k kph
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong application and knowledge of beverage industry accounting
- Working knowledge of VIP, Microsoft Dynamics F O, or other accounting software
