Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity
- Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision and attention to detail
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Help with patient positioning, transfers using Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques, and safe patient movement practices
- Monitor patient conditions closely, report changes promptly to nursing staff, and document observations accurately in medical records
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a caring environment that promotes mental well-being
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques, proper hand hygiene, and adherence to safety protocols
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s care needs, and behavioral health conditions
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and basic anatomy relevant to patient care
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting practices and assistive devices like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and compassionate interaction with patients
- CPR certification and basic life support (BLS) training are required prior to employment or within onboarding period
